# Data Retention & Deletion

> How long Lane keeps your data and how to have it deleted.

## Retention

We keep your workspace data for as long as your account is active, so the product works as expected. This includes your feedback, signals, plans, customers, and the settings that make them useful.

## Deleting your data

You're in control of deletion:

* **Delete it yourself.** A workspace owner can permanently delete the entire workspace from **Settings → General**.
* **What gets removed.** Deletion permanently removes your workspace data from our production systems, and deletes the associated sign-in records held by our identity provider (Clerk). It is not a soft delete or a temporary deactivation.
* **Backups.** Residual copies may remain in encrypted backups for up to 7 days, after which they are automatically purged.
* **Prefer we handle it?** You can also email [security@laneapp.co](mailto:security@laneapp.co) to request deletion on your behalf.

## Connected integrations

Deleting data in Lane does not delete data held in the tools you've connected (such as Slack or HubSpot). Manage that data directly in each of those services.
