Views in Lane allow you to tailor how records are displayed—helping you adapt the interface to match your personal workflow, team processes, or broader business practices.

What is a View?

A View is a saved layout of an object’s records—configured with your choice of filters, grouping, sorting, and display format. You can use Views to focus on the data that matters most to you without altering how others see it. For example:
  • Create a View that shows only high-priority Features grouped by release.
  • Filter Insights to show only recent feedback tagged by a specific customer.
  • Focus on Objectives planned for the current quarter.
Each View is saved under Spaces and currently only visible to the user who created it. (We plan to add sharing and team-wide visibility options soon.)

How to create a View

To create a custom View:
  1. Go to the object (e.g., Objectives, Insights, Features, Roadmaps) for which you want to create a View.
  2. Customize the display using:
    • Filters (e.g., status, tags, assignee)
    • Group by (e.g. release, timeframe, owner)
    • Sort options
    • Display (show or hide fields like Status, Progress, Tags)
  3. Once you’ve tailored the View to your needs, click Save View.
  4. Give your View a name and save it under your Spaces.
You can return to this View anytime to see the exact configuration.

Available View Types by Object

Each object supports a specific set of View formats to keep things streamlined:
ObjectAvailable View Types
ObjectivesList only
InsightsInbox, List, Board
FeaturesList, Board
RoadmapsList only
More flexibility and view options may be added over time.

Favorites

You can mark a View as a favorite using the ellipsis (three-dot menu) from the sidebar. This allows you to quickly access frequently used Views.
To favorite a Roadmap, you must do so from within the Roadmap itself. Unlike other objects, Roadmaps are not created as Views by default and exist at the workspace level.

Reordering Views

You can reorder Views in the sidebar by simply dragging and dropping them. This helps you organize them based on priority or usage frequency.

Best Practices

  • Use specific filters to create focused Views for daily workflows.
  • Create separate Views for different segments (e.g., by product, timeframe, or status).
  • Favorite frequently used Views under your Spaces for quick access.
  • Stick to meaningful View names to stay organized.
