Lane’s Chrome Extension lets you capture insights and ideas straight from your browser - perfect for product managers browsing customer forums, competitors, or internal tools. The Chrome Extension helps you capture valuable product context at the moment of discovery - whether it’s user feedback, a competitor insight, or an internal note, without interrupting your workflow.- Quickly turn website content into structured product ideas.

- Enrich captured insights with relevant product fields like Product, Tags, and Assignee.
Ideal for capturing ideas as they emerge - from research, customer tickets, or team conversations online.
Configuration and Setup
To get started with the extension:- Go to Settings → Integrations → Chrome Extension.
- Click the link to the Chrome Web Store and install the extension.
- Once installed, generate an API key from your Lane account.
- Use the API key to authenticate in the Chrome extension and log in.
The extension is linked to your Lane workspace using your API key - make sure to keep it secure.
Using the Extension
Once logged in:- Highlight text on any webpage that represents an idea or insight.
- Open the Lane Chrome Extension from your toolbar.
- The extension will:
- Auto-fill the title and description based on the highlighted content and site.
- Allow you to optionally select:
- Product
- Tags
- Assignee
 
 
- Click Capture Insight.
- The selected content as the description.
- The website’s title or context as the title.
- Chrome set as the source.
- Metadata mapped as per your selection.
Things to Know
- All captured records are saved as Ideas.
- You must be authenticated with a valid API key.
- Only one Lane workspace can be used per extension login.
