For teams that write and decide in Notion, Lane works with it in two ways:
  • The Notion integration sends Signals and Docs into a Notion database, and lets status changes there flow back to Lane, so marking work done in Notion can tell the customers who asked.
  • Your personal Notion connection lets Lane search and read your Notion pages as you, so Ask Lane and your automations can draw on the specs and decisions your team already wrote, and update pages when you ask.

Connect the Notion integration

Go to Settings → Integrations → Notion and connect your Notion workspace. Then, in Notion, share the databases you want Lane to use: open the database, choose ••• → Connections, and add Lane. Available on Pro.

Send to Notion

From a Signal or a Doc, choose Send to → Notion, then pick the database and its status property:
  • From a Signal, the page carries the Signal’s summary and a link back to the live Signal in Lane.
  • From a Doc, the page carries the Doc’s title and content.
Sending an Open Signal marks it Accepted. Content is a one-way copy: editing the Notion page doesn’t change Lane, which stays the source of truth for the feedback, Signals and customers behind it. What does flow back is status.

Keep Signals in step with Notion

In the Notion settings, turn on Sync Notion status to Lane Signal status, choose the database and its status property, and map its values to Lane’s Accepted or Closed. When someone changes a page’s status in Notion, the linked Signal moves with it.

Close the loop automatically

  1. Someone moves the page to a status you mapped to Closed.
  2. The linked Signal becomes Closed in Lane, and its feedback is marked done.
  3. Closing the loop fires: every customer behind that feedback is told in the place they asked, with a reply in their Slack thread or a note on their Intercom or Zendesk conversation.
Mark it done in Notion, and the people who asked for it hear back.

Your own Notion in Ask Lane

Connect your personal Notion under Settings → Connections so Lane can search, read and update your Notion pages as you. Lane sees only what you can see in Notion.
  • In chat, Lane can find and read pages to answer a question, and when you ask, create a page, edit one or add a comment. Each change is shown for your approval first.
  • In Automations, Lane uses the Notion account of the person who created the automation, and makes changes only if Notion is set to Read and write.
Lane never deletes pages. Contributors can’t connect Notion.

Q: What gets created in Notion when I send a Signal or Doc?
A: A page in the database you choose, linked back to Lane. Q: Does editing the Notion page change Lane?
A: No. Content is a one-way copy. Status is the exception: with status sync on, a status change in Notion moves the linked Signal. Q: What’s the difference between the integration and my personal connection?
