Priority score is a configurable scoring system that ranks your features based on real customer and business signals. Each feature receives a score from 0 to 100, calculated from weighted inputs like revenue impact, customer count, and feedback volume. By adjusting the weights, you control how much each signal influences the final score - so prioritization reflects what matters most to your team.
Priority score weights are workspace-level settings. Changes apply to all features in the workspace and are visible to all members.

How it works

Each feature’s priority score is calculated using five weighted components. The weights must add up to 100%. Lane normalizes the raw values across all features in your workspace and applies the weights to produce a score between 0 and 100.
ComponentWhat it measuresDefault weight
Revenue impactTotal revenue across all customers linked to the feature30%
Customer countNumber of unique customers who submitted feedback25%
Insight scoreCombined score of all insights extracted from linked feedback20%
Strategic impactHow much the PM-assigned strategic importance influences the score15%
Feedback countTotal number of feedback submissions linked to the feature10%
When you save new weights, Lane recalculates the priority score for every feature in the workspace.

Configuring weights

  1. Click your workspace name in the top-left corner.
  2. Go to Settings → Priority Score.
  3. Adjust the weight for each component using the input fields.
  4. Verify that the total equals 100% — a green checkmark confirms the total is valid.
  5. Click Save to apply.
The total indicator turns red if the weights do not add up to 100%. You cannot save until the total is exactly 100%.

Resetting to defaults

Click Reset to defaults to restore the original weight distribution. You still need to click Save to apply the reset values.

When to adjust weights

  • Revenue-driven teams — increase Revenue Impact and Customer Count to surface features requested by high-value accounts.
  • Volume-driven teams — increase Feedback Count to prioritize features with the most customer demand.
  • Strategy-driven teams — increase Strategic Impact to give more weight to PM judgment alongside customer signals.
Setting any component to 0% removes it from the score calculation entirely. A warning appears for components with very low weights (under 5%) since they have minimal effect on the final score.

Automatic recalculation

Priority scores are recalculated automatically in two cases:
  1. When you save new weights — all features are rescored immediately.
  2. When new feedback is processed — features linked to the updated insights have their scores refreshed.
You do not need to trigger recalculation manually.

FAQs

Q: Which plans support priority score configuration?
A: Priority score weights can be configured on the Business plan. Starter plan workspaces use the default weights.
Q: Does changing weights affect historical data?
A: No. Changing weights recalculates the current score for all features based on their existing data. It does not alter any underlying feedback, insight, or customer records.
Q: Where can I see a feature’s priority score?
A: The priority score appears in the feature page and can be used to prioritize features in saved views and Roadmaps.
